In Genesis 16:1-16, Sarai, Abram’s wife, offered her servant, Hagar, to bear a child for Abram. The plan backfired, and Hagar conceived, leading to Sarai’s frustration and mistreatment of Hagar. However, the Lord met with Hagar in the wilderness, instructing her to return to her mistress and naming her son Ishmael. Hagar recognized the Lord as the “God Who Sees” and named the well Beer-lahai-roi. This story shows God’s grace and willingness to meet people where they are, even in their sin and brokenness, and provide guidance and hope.
